Message from TTA President

By: Dan Reid, President/Managing Member, Grove Transit

The year is half-over and we have accomplished much, but we still have much more to do.

Our advocacy efforts remain in full force. Following on the success of the Legislative Fly-in we had a mini-fly-in in June as several TTA members visited Senate offices to educate and inform about the importance of NEMT to the healthcare industry.   In addition, we formed the National Medicaid Mobility Alliance and gathered over 200 signatures to a letter addressing the need to protect Medicaid NEMT.  This letter was delivered to key Senate members.  As I write this article it remains to be seen what the outcome will be, but you can bet TTA will not stop in our efforts to advocate on behalf of our members.  On that note, Rep. Miller (R-WV) submitted our GSA language for consideration in the FY’26 appropriations bill. While we have not received word from the committee on accepting the language, we continue to push for it.  (The GSA bill would provide access to private fleet operators to purchase Government surplus vehicles prior to auction.)

TTA’s first Mastering Business Essentials educational webinar series, sponsored by Bambi NEMT, was quite a success averaging over 85 people registered for each session.  This webinar series was free to TTA members.  If you missed any of the sessions, they are available through the member website or on Bambi’s YouTube channel.

We’ve now held four Open House events at VIP Taxi/HealthLift NEMT in Phoenix (sponsored by Paratransit Insurance), Driverge Vehicle Innovations in Akron, OH (sponsored by Driverge, AMF Bruns, and National Interstate Insurance),  Braunability in Indianapolis, IN (sponsored by Braunability, Q’Straint, Model1, and Mobility Works), and last month AAMetro in Bridgewater, MA.  All the events have been near or complete sell-outs, and in addition to the wonderful networking and educational presentations, have included tours of vehicle conversion factories, attending an Indy 500 practice session, Top Golf, and even a real-live Boston Clambake.   We have three Open House sessions remaining, so don’t miss out.  Registration is open for the first two.
