TLPA has always had a small in-house staff but we accomplish a lot because we have great outside support from our meeting
planners, our attorneys, our PR team and our legislative counsel. Paul Miller
and Ken Butler are our legislative team. Ken has been associated with TLPA
since 1987 when he left the Reagan Administration, where he served as Associate
Administrator for Budget and Policy for the Federal Transit Administration
(then the Urban Mass Transportation Administration), and started a government
relations, transportation consulting firm.
In 2000, Ken hired Amanda Brownwell to track
developments in Congress by attending Congressional hearings and monitoring
legislation. Now after 17 years with Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies,
getting married and having two children (Beau and Hunter) Amanda Kadilak is
leaving Miller/Wenhold to spend more time with her family. (We do think she missed an opportunity by not
naming her boys Ford and Lincoln.)
cannot thank Amanda enough for all she has done over her 17 years in working
with us. Amanda was instrumental in arranging
many very successful and productive high-level meetings for every TLPA
president since 2000 and for assisting with three TLPA legislative fly-ins. Amanda
is a good writer, known for preparing concise issue briefs, legislative
reports, and Miller/Wenhold’s weekly newsletters.
at TLPA wish Amanda well on the next chapter of her life and thank her for the
many years of service to the staff and members at TLPA.
